Meet Dr. Donald Nelson
On Being a Dentist
I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families. I look forward to meeting new people and establishing relationships. I also look forward to renewing and strengthening relationships with established patients.
As a dentist, every day I have opportunities to make positive impacts in people’s lives. Dentistry is rewarding for so many reasons: I’m able to help people feel better about their smiles, relieve a person’s pain, and restore someone’s ability to chew comfortably.
I enjoy the variety that comes with each day. Every patient is different, with different clinical and personal needs. Whether I’m doing a filling or a crown or replacing a tooth, I get excited about improving that person’s oral health. — Dr. Donald Nelson, Jr.

Personal Life
A native of Springfield, Dr. Nelson graduated from Effingham County High School. He now lives in Rincon with his wife Carrie and their two children, Braydon and Claire. Most of his time away from the office is spent with his family. Right now that means lots of trips to the park, reading bedtime stories, and watching too much Disney Jr. In the summer, Dr. Nelson enjoys family trips to the beach.
Dr. Nelson likes to stay in shape, whether he’s running or going to the gym. He’s also an avid reader, but struggles to find time for it because his young children keep him busy. He does, however, find time to follow college football, especially The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
